DESCRIPTION

We visited Argentina as part of our 6-week South America trip, which also included Brazil and Chile. We came from Brazil and crossed the border to Argentina in Iguazu. We were in Argentina for a total of 12 days. In the end we crossed the Andes to get to Chile. Due to the bad exchange rate, Argentina was quite expensive. We were advised to exchange our money (dollars) on the street as it was cheaper than in the bank. Once we had to follow this advice out of necessity and had no problems. But the situation was very strange for us and we don't know whether it is always safe (counterfeit money). In principle, you have to take good care of your valuables in Argentina (especially when there are crowds). I almost got my camera stolen from my purse.

HIGHLIGHTS

ITINERARY

  • General Information

We came from Brazil across the border and had already visited the Iguazu Falls on the Brazilian side. The national park in Argentina is a lot bigger. The city itself is quite nice and there are a few nice restaurants and shops. Otherwise there is not much to see.

    Accommodation

Our hotel was called Iguazu Hojas Verdes and was very bad for the price. We had bedbugs and everything was very filthy.

You can spend a good two days in the national park. The park is very nicely laid out. With a small train you can cover larger distances quickly.

USEFUL APPS

    SUMMARY

Argentina is certainly a beautiful country, but we were in Brazil before and then in Chile, so Argentina came last in our direct comparison. Everything was quite expensive and the people were not as friendly as in the other two countries. We also missed the natural aspect, but that is also because we were in Buenos Aires for a very long time. I would definitely shorten this station next time. A second trip to Argentina is therefore no longer on the wish list for the time being.
