DESCRIPTION

Not in the mood for a pure city trip? Then your next trip to New York still includes a road trip to New England! We didn't just want to see the big city, we also wanted to explore the area around New York. So after a week's sightseeing marathon in New York and Washington, we went on a short road trip to Connecticut.

HIGHLIGHTS

ITINERARY

  • General Information

New York in itself is of course a highlight. There is so much to see and everyone has to decide for themselves where their individual interests lie. For us it was our first visit to New York and we therefore looked at the most important sights. We also bought a New York City Pass to get discounts on attractions. In general, we tried to walk as much as possible so that we could see more of the city. From time to time we also took the subway. It is best to book your ticket for certain sights online in advance, so you can save long queues.

    Accommodation

To save money we took a hotel in Jersey City. But we also had to take the train to the city center for 30 minutes every day. Next time I would prefer to spend a little more money and live in the center.

    SUMMARY

New York is a city that everyone should have seen. However, a week is enough. A trip to Washington should also be included. But even there two days are enough. If you still have time, it is worth taking a tour to Connecticut by rental car. You can definitely take 3-4 days for this, depending on how long you want to drive. In retrospect, our road trip was far too short and we should have spent fewer days in New York and more in Connecticut.
