DESCRIPTION

During our transit from Malaysia to Indonesia, we made a stop in Singapore and explored the city in two days. Singapore is a metropolis of superlatives, a multicultural, cosmopolitan country in the center of Asia and so completely different from its neighboring countries. Singapore offers everything your heart desires: entertainment, architecture, great excursion destinations, and friendly people. Singapore is also an absolute paradise for all gourmets who love Asian cuisine.

HIGHLIGHTS

ITINERARY

  • General Information

The center of Singapore can be explored on foot, for all longer distances you can simply take the subway.

    Accommodation

Desker Road, Golden Royal Hotel, Singapore

The hotel was in the middle of Little India. The nearest metro is not far away and the city is very easy to get to. We even ran into town once. The best thing here is of course that you can get such great Indian food right on your doorstep.

    Activities and Sights

Bayfront Avenue, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore
Bayfront Avenue, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore

Marina Bay Sands is a luxury resort on Marina Bay in Singapore. The complex consists of the hotel, a casino, a shopping mall, an art and science museum, two theaters, several restaurants and much more. There is a water light show every day right in front of the resort. The show is free and takes place every evening at 8:00 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Gardens by the Bay East (Panoramic view), Singapore
Gardens by the Bay East (Panoramic view), Singapore

The Gardens by the Bay is a nature park just behind the Marina Bay Sands. In the middle of the park there are huge trees of lights that become part of a light show in the evening. The show times of the Light Show are 7.45pm and 8.45pm daily. The show lasts 15 minutes and entry is free. An absolute must-see in Singapore!

      Orchard Road, Singapore
      Orchard Road, Singapore

Orchard Road is Singapore's main shopping street. Here you will find all the shops that make the heart beat faster, from discount shops, department stores and upscale boutiques to luxury hotels. Next door is Emerald Hill Road. Here you'll find a mix of colorful Chinese baroque houses and casual pubs, while outdoor bars and restaurants can be found along the nearby Cuppage Terrace.

      Little India, Singapore

You should definitely have walked through this quarter. "Little India" is really located here. The Indian food is really tasty and super cheap.

      Try great food in Singapore

I highly recommend Telok Ayer Market (18 Raffles Quay). The whole thing is set up like a food court and you can try dishes from all nations here.

      Merlion, Singapore
      Merlion, Singapore

The Merlion is a mythical creature with a lion's head and the body of a fish. From here I have a great view of the Marina Bay Sands.

      Haji Lane, Singapore
      Haji Lane, Singapore

Haji Lane is a street with colorful houses, cafes and great little fashion boutiques. A detour is definitely worth it.

      Singapore: Stroll through Singapore

As always, it's best to just stroll the streets and take in the city life.

Marina Gardens Drive, Flower Dome, Singapore
Marina Gardens Drive, Flower Dome, Singapore

The Flower Dome is the largest glass greenhouse in the world and is definitely worth a visit! The entrance fee is quite high at $ 20.

SUMMARY

Singapore is the perfect city for a few days of sightseeing. Either you make a short stopover here or visit the city during a trip to Asia. The country really has its own charm. In the two days, we saw the most important highlights but would have liked to stay a few days longer.
