DESCRIPTION

This 3-week trip was the start of our South America trip, which also included Argentina and Chile. We started in Rio de Janeiro and spent 3 weeks in Brazil where we also visited a friend in Sao Paulo. This trip includes cities, beaches and nature and was a great adventure. It was our first time in Brazil and we didn't speak Portuguese, only Spanish, but that wasn't a big problem, we did it very well 😊. From the last station we went on to Argentina. You can also find this trip here on Tripspi.

HIGHLIGHTS

ITINERARY

  • General Information

Rio de Janeiro is a great city! You should of course stick to the generally known safety instructions: Do not wander around in the evening or at night, do not wear any conspicuous jewelry or valuables on your body, etc. In the city, you can generally get very easily from A by public transport (bus or subway) after B. In November the sun was very strong even when it was cloudy, so make sure to apply some lotion! In general, in Brazil you should try coxinha (rice balls), the typical dish feijoada (beans with rice and meat) and of course fresh juices and açai for breakfast.

    Accommodation

We lived in a small apartment in the city center. So we could cook for ourselves and save a little money.

Just walk along the promenade and watch the Brazilians doing sports, treat yourself to a coconut (or a caipirinha) and enjoy the city.

Avoid visiting the Sugar Loaf when it is cloudy / hazy, because then unfortunately you cannot see anything. We got a sunburn upstairs despite the clouds.

Cristo Redentor, Centro, Rio de Janeiro, State of Rio de Janeiro

To get to the mountain, you first go up with a kind of mountain railway. After that there are a lot of escalators that will take you to the top. So the climb is very easy.

We bought a pair of original Chucks in a sports shop for a great price.

SUMMARY

You can very well travel to Brazil in winter. It's not high season but the weather is great. Even in two weeks you can see and experience a lot of Brazil. Of course, there is a lot more to discover, which is why this won't be my last vacation in Brazil.
