The trip to Brazil, which lasted two weeks, included stops in Sao Paulo, Salvador and Rio de Janeiro and took place over the carnival period.

Impressive cathedral. From my opinion nothing very special.
Municipal Market, Rua Cantareira, Centro Histórico de São Paulo, São Paulo
Huge food market. Good place for having a lunch. Our brazilian friends said we should try the sandwiches (see picture). Stand vendors are very pushy. Keep an eye on your valuables.

Japanese city area. This japanese city area has some historical background. It is a walk through worth. There is no big sight, just enjoy the different kind of flaire.
Avenida Paulista, Bela Vista, São Paulo, State of São Paulo
One of the most important places for financial companies and overall economy in Sao Paulo. It offers a lot of cultural and entertainment activities. I can highly recommend the viewpoint "Mirante Sesc Paulista". Definitly worth to go their !!! Within this tower with the viewpoint you can do a lot of different activities (for free)
Beco do Batman, Rua Medeiros de Albuquerque, Jardim das Bandeiras, São Paulo
Nice side-street where the wall and the houses on the left and right side where painted with cavity. Nice to go there for a walk and to take some pictures. It takes about 30 minutes to walk through and back again. Afterwards I can highly recommend to eat a cup of acaí. It is delicious.
Pre-Carneval Party
Our friends took us with them to a public pre-carneval party. It was like a festival and went from 2pm till 10pm. The huge majority is not diguised, so you can dress up normally. We had luck, because one of the biggest music stars in Brazil acted on the day we were their -> Pedro Sampaio
Street Carneval
Street Carneval is typical in Brazil and targets all age classes. There is one big vehical equipped with huge music boxes driving down the street very slow. Everybody dances around and having fun. On the right and left side of the street are all over people selling drinks. You don't have to dress up in a special way.

General Information
I would recommend to use Uber for your transportation in and around of Salvador. It is very cheap. The accommodation was outside the city center of Sao Paulo. About 45 minutes away. Therefore, we were located to empty and endless beaches.

Beach day
As we arrived at our appartment we went by foot to the beach for the rest of the day. It is a very nice beach their.
Mercado Modelo, Praça Visconde de Cayru, Comercio, Salvador
Nice market. Different stuff is offered their. Nice for a walk through, but nothing special.
Elevador Lacerda, Praça Tomé de Souza, Centro, Salvador
This elevator connects the lower with the upper city. Nice view over the harbor and the lower city by going up with the elevator.
Pelourinho, Salvador, State of Bahia, Brazil
Beautiful cobbelstone streets with colored houses and little stores, bars, etc.
Farol da Barra, Largo do Farol da Barra, Barra, Salvador
Lighthouse of Salvador. Probably one of the most popular viewpoints in Salvador. Nice stop for a picture.
Praia do Forte
Take a Uber and go to the beatiful beach of Praia do Forte. The ride will take about an hour from the location we lived. Besides the beach their is the "Projeto Tamar" which is a turtle rescue project.
Projeto Tamar
Nice place to visit if you like to see different kind of turtles and other sea animals. Projeto Tamar tries to protect turtles that are in danger and helps them to protect there species. If you're lucky, young ones will hatch the day you get there. These are released on the beach in the evening for the walk in the sea.

During the five days in Rio we had a mix of sightseeing and carneval. Use Uber for transportation.

Impressive sugarloaf Mountain with a stunning view over Rio. I would recommend to do your booking online, this safes you time in busy seasons. Make sure you go up by good weather to enjoy the wonderful view.
Christ the Redeemer, Alto da Boa Vista, Rio de Janeiro, State of Rio de Janeiro
One of Brazil's landmarks. It is stunning and you have 360 degree viewpoints around the statue. It is usually very crowded. You can use a bus shuttle to come up and down or a little rail train. Make sure that you book your tickets before you go there this will safe you time. Make sure that a good view is guaranteed if you go up.
Escadaria Selarón, Rua Manuel Carneiro, Santa Teresa, Rio de Janeiro
Beautiful stair with more than 2000 steps. Definitely a place to visit if you are in Rio.
Parade of Carneval
We bought tickets for the parade (about 50 €). It is an event that starts at 10 pm and goes through the night till 6 am. Samba schools have one hour to present their performance and walk all the way through the tribunes. It was nice to see and definitely worth
Street Carneval
We had two days of street carneval. As explained before by Sao Paulo, this is the real carneval for the young people of Brazil. They usually take their own music boxes with them to make party on the streets. Everybody is in a good mood. Keep your valuables safe.
Botanic Garden
Nice Botanic Garden. Good to spend some time outside the city noise.

We went to the Ipanema beach for the rest of the day, at the day we arrived in Rio

SUMMARY
It was a very nice trip, which wouldn´t be that easy for us, if we hadn´t all the time one of our local friends with us who solved the language barriers and guided us all the 15 days. Brazil is not very expensive, but also not very cheap with regard to food. Be aware of pick pockets and the necessary vaccinations before you start your trip. Avoid to go to favelas. Nevertheless, I think Brazil is an interesting county to visit.
